BSB Snetterton - Alex Lowes: A victory with an announcement

Alex Lowes (Samsung Honda) is on pole position at the ninth round of the British Superbike Championship in Snetterton. Championship leader Shane Byrne (Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki) takes second position. However, Joshua Brookes (Tyco Suzuki) got the best start and took the lead from third on the grid.

Brookes and Byrne gain more than a second advantage over Lowes in the first three laps, but now the Honda driver turns it up and closes the gap with what is currently the fastest race lap. With another incredible record lap, Lowes conceded his two opponents and took the lead.

James Ellison (Milwaukee Yamaha), Ryuichi Kiyonari (Samsung Honda), Chris Walker (Quattro Plant Bournemouth Kawasaki) and James Westmoreland (Buildbase BMW) are catching up with the Byrne. Lowes is still in first place with a second advantage, but the gaps in the chase crowd are getting smaller and smaller.

Westmoreland loses more than nine seconds after a ride. Walker falls behind and has nothing more to add from the middle of the race. Only Lowes, Brookes, Byrne, Ellison and Kiyonari are still eligible for victory. Brookes puts Lowes under increasing pressure and appears next to him several times. But that doesn't seem to be a problem, because the lead between the two is increasing.

Kiyonari is the next one who can no longer keep up with the high pace and so two laps to go two duels determine the action: Lowes fights against Brookes for the win. Byrne tries to defend his third place against Ellison, which he ultimately succeeds relatively clearly.

At the top, Lowes increased the pace on the last lap and finally shook Brookes off. The race is over - Alex Lowes triumphs! This fulfilled his announcement that he wanted to stop the triumphant advance of "Shakey" Byrne in Snetterton. The 22-year-old Honda driver manages this impressively! Brookes is sure to finish second ahead of Byrne, Ellison and Kiyonari.
