So if one can even speak of intelligence in the animal kingdom, pigs or octopuses, for example, are much smarter. But with the Chinese I am no longer surprised ...

    "clear"?
we just claim something ... after all, that's the internet!
    what a crap!
each of the animals has its own kind of intelligence, and there are different characteristics for different species ...
since now to claim one would be "clearly" more intelligent than the other is arbitrary!
Especially since the intelligence aspects of an octopus have absolutely no relevance for a car ... "Curiosity" for example. does nothing in a car.

As long as you don't specify that, the comparison to horses is okay. What is clearly wrong, however, is to accuse these animals of cleverness, absolutely ridiculous - apart from the fact that it is not necessary to show cleverness in order to drive, logic is completely sufficient. So please, glass house and such ...

Do we have any measuring scale there? Or is it based on individual experiments ala: an octopus can get food from a bottle and a horse cannot. Or on a subjective assessment.

The whole discussion about intelligence IMHO lacks clear measurability, regardless of whether it is in humans, animals or computers. The best we have is the Turing test, and after that horses and pigs / octopuses fall into the same class.
