What scriptures in the Bible forbid suicide

What is the Christian View on Suicide? What Does the Bible Say About Suicide?

According to the Bible, whether a person commits suicide does not determine whether he or she gets to heaven. If an unsaved person commits suicide, he or she has done nothing but accelerate the journey to the Lake of Fire. The person who committed suicide will end up in hell because they refused salvation through Christ, and not because of the suicide itself. In the Bible we read about four people who committed suicide: Saul (1 Samuel 31: 4), Ahitofel (2 Samuel 17:23), Zimri (1 Kings 16:18) and Judas (Matthew 27: 5) . Everyone was evil and sinful. The Bible regards suicide as murder, no more or less. God is the one who decides when and how a person should die. Taking that power into your own hands is blasphemy according to the Bible.

What does the Bible say about a Christian who commits suicide? I do not believe that a Christian who commits suicide will lose his salvation and go to hell. The Bible says that from the moment one truly believes in Jesus Christ, one is eternally secure (John 3:16). According to the Bible, Christians can be beyond doubt because they have eternal life no matter what. "I wrote this to you so that you might know that you who believe in the name of the Son of God will have eternal life." (1 John 5:13). Nothing can separate a Christian from the love of God! “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor powers, neither present nor future, nor powers, neither height nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, ours Mr." (Romans 8: 38-39). If no “creature” can separate a Christian from the love of God, and a suicide Christian is also a “creature”, then suicide cannot separate him from the love of God either. Jesus died for all of our sins and if a true Christian, in a time of spiritual weakness, commits suicide, that would be a sin for which Jesus died too.

That is not to say that suicide is not a grave sin against God. According to the Bible, suicide and murder are always wrong. I would have serious doubts about the true faith of someone who claims to be a Christian and still commits suicide. There are no circumstances that justify taking your own life, especially not a Christian. Christians are called to live their lives for God - the decision when to die is God's decision alone. Perhaps the book of Esther is a good illustration of Christian suicide. In Persia there was a law that anyone who appeared before the king uninvited could be killed unless the king lifts his scepter in grace towards him. For a Christian, suicide would mean forcing his way to the king instead of waiting to be fetched. He will hold the scepter on them to protect eternal life, but that doesn't mean they are happy with them. Although 1 Corinthians 3:15 is not suicide, it is a good description of what happens to a Christian who commits suicide: "He himself will be saved, just as by fire."
